Health & Life Skills

These initiatives help youth achieve and maintain healthy, active lifestyles.

SMART Girls an outgrowth of the popular and effective SMART Moves program, SMART Girls is a health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program for girls ages 10 - 15. The program is designed to encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles that will enable early adolescent girls to develop to their full potential.

After School Snacks are offered on a daily basis to our members. These snacks are offered in a wide variety, putting fuel into our members allowing them energy to participate in our after school program.

Summer Lunch Program in collaboration with the USDA and the State Department of Education, a hot lunch is offered daily to our members at no cost. Most of our members are on Government Free and Reduced School Lunch Program during the school year and this program is essential in getting the much needed nutrients into their bodies on a daily basis.

Kid's Cafe Dinner Program in collaboration with local restaurants and other businesses the Boys & Girls Club of Story County provides a  hot meal every evening that the Club is open during after school hours. This meal is provided free of charge to all Club members. Some Club members get their only meal of the day provided at school lunch, which may have been five hours prior to them arriving at our Club. This meal is made available to our members to make sure they don't go without eating.
